Paul Rodgers meets Paul Kossoff's son for the first time

Legendary blues-rocker Paul Rodgers finally got to meet the son of Paul Kossoff, the former guitarist in his old band Free.

In a tweet last week Rodgers mentioned that he had his first-ever encounter with Simon Kossoff in London, and included a photo of the two of them together.

"So much like his Dad," wrote Rodgers, who lost his close friend and ex-bandmate in 1976 when the elder Kossoff died from heroin-related heart problems on a flight from L.A. to New York.

Kossoff—who's been a major influence on guitar greats like Joe Bonamassa—may be best known for supplying the raw riffs that propelled Free's "All Right Now" to the top of the charts in 1970.

Paul Rodgers fan should note that he just announced a show at Richmond's River Rock Show Theatre, set for June 26. Coincidentally, that's just two days before Queen—the band he toured and recorded with a few years back—plays Rogers Arena, with Adam Lambert as singer this time around.

Who knows. Maybe Rodgers—who's been known to haunt the South Surrey/White Rock area—will crash the Queen gig to show Lambert what old-school blues-belting is all about!
