Homeless in Vancouver: Minaj a deux

    1 of 2 2 of 2

People are throwing out garbage when they put stuff in the Dumpster, and when they put stuff in the blue bins, they’re throwing out their recyclable garbage—it’s just lucky when binners find value in that garbage.

But when people carefully leave things beside their garbage or recycling receptacles—or on top of them—then they really are trying to give something of value to binners and Dumpster divers. Binners commonly refer to this kind of gifting as a “tip”.

A few days a go someone left such a tip beside a blue bin set: a recent Nicki Minaj album. Not a CD mind you, but an actual vinyl record album—a medium still popular with club DJs. It was a double album, in fact.

Maybe if it was Nikki Sixx…

Ms. Minaj wasn’t alone; I found her snuggling up beside an Alan Parson’s Project album from the 1970s. It’s true what they say—opposites do attract.

Anyway, wedged inside one of the cardboard sleeves of the double album, tight in one of the corners, was a voucher good for one digital download of the album tracks.

Maybe the voucher has been redeemed, maybe not. I’m not going to stop anyone from trying the code.

I’m not interested in the tracks myself. I’ve heard enough of Nicki Minaj to know that, as far as I’m concerned, Miley Cyrus is a better singer—if you know what I mean.

And now that I’ve seen the album art, Miley’s looking better and better. Not only do I question whether Nicki Minaj can sing, but I also think she has real trouble putting on her makeup.
