Homeless in Vancouver: City hall with the "icing" turned on

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Vancouver City Hall as it appeared yesterday evening. Same old same old except that the LED edge lighting was turned on.

The LED lighting was first turned on January 2010. Called Ice Light by German artist Gunda Förster, it was one of the public art works created for the city’s Olympic and Paralympic Public Art Program for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

I have no idea why the city turns it on some nights and not others. In fact, I think it’s been months since I’ve seen it turned on at all.

The lights remind me of the icing on a gingerbread house. Probably not the effect they were going for.
