Recording engineer Mark Saunders worked with David Bowie in 1985, when the latter was recording the soundtrack for the film Absolute Beginners at Westside Studios in London. At one point during the session, the singer took a break from laying down serious vocal takes and did a series of impressions of various singers, starting with Bruce Springsteen.

Saunders had the foresight to keep the recordings, and he posted them in a YouTube video. Check it out below. Bowie's most convincing impressions are the ones of Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.

As a bonus, here's Bowie's take on Elvis Presley's speaking voice, recorded as a Christmas greeting for BBC6 in 2013. He introduces himself by his real name, but it's pretty obvious the Thin White Duke is paying tribute to the King of Rock 'n' Roll, with whom he shared a birthday (January 8).
