A B.C. medical marijuana supplier is recalling one of its batches after Health Canada raised concerns over the company’s production practices.

The Nanaimo-based Greenleaf Medicinals has recalled one batch of Purple Kush.

Anyone in possession of marijuana from batch number PK-10-20-13 is advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to the company via courier.

The recall is thought to affect about 63 of Greenleaf’s clients.

According to a CTV report, an inspection team from Health Canada found possible unregistered pesticide residue as well as unsanitary production conditions. There were also concerns about testing standards.

A Health Canada news release states, “Producers of marijuana for medical purposes are subject to compliance and enforcement measures similar to those in place for other producers of controlled substances. They must meet strict security, control and reporting requirements, and they are regularly inspected.”

Greenleaf is no longer listed as one of the few companies licenced to grow marijuana for the federal government under the new Marijuana for Medical Purposes Regulations, which require medicinal pot uses to buy their product directly from federally licensed, corporate producers.

In a recent report, the marijuana strain review website Leafly, listed Purple Kush as the most popular medical cannabis strain among Canadians.
