The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the 16th Annual Chutzpah Festival

      From February 18 to March 13, the 16th Annual Chutzpah Festival hits the Norman & Annette Rothstein Theatre (950 West 41st) and various offsite venues.

      Each year, the event showcases dance, theatre, comedy, and music by local, Canadian, and international artists through performances and workshops.

      Highlights of this year's dance offerings include performances by Spellbound Contemporary Ballet, Maria Kong, Gallim Dance, MADBOOTS, Shay Kuebler Radical System Art, and Ballet Kelowna.

      Music fans can tune in to the sounds of A-Wa, Odessa/Havana, Klezmerson, Baladino, Victoria Hanna, Andy Statman and his trio, Rotem Sivan Trio, and Avishai Cohen Quartet.

      The theatre and comedy program includes playwright and performer Itai Erdal in A Very Narrow Bridge and solo performances by comedians Jessica Kirson and Jon Steinberg.

      New this year is a book reading and interview with Jennifer Teege, author of My Grandfather Would Have Shot Me and biracial granddaughter of Nazi commandant Aon Goeth.
