Rob Ford finally takes leave of absence after second crack video surfaces

How many videos of a mayor smoking crack does it take before he finally takes a much-needed leave of absence?

If you're Toronto mayor Rob Ford, that magic number is two.

(The first one was a freebie?)

According to the Globe and Mail, a second video has now surfaced of Ford allegedly smoking crack out of a metal pipe. It is said to have been filmed as recently as Saturday (April 27). The video, purportedly taken by a "self-proclaimed drug dealer", is being shopped around for a six-figure price.

The Toronto Sun has also obtained a new "raunchy" audio recording of Ford going on a tirade in an Etobicoke bar on Monday (April 28) about his wife and mayoral contender Karen Stintz.

On the recording, Ford is heard saying, “I’d like to fucking jam her [Stintz], but she doesn’t want ... I can’t talk like this...I’m so sorry.”

In the audio from the Sun, Ford also complained about the raising of a Pride flag at Toronto City Hall.

In a statement issued yesterday (April 30), Ford said he recognized he had a problem with alcohol and that, "after taking some time to think about my own well-being, how to best serve the people of Toronto and what is in the best interests of my family, I have decided to take a leave from campaigning and from my duties as mayor to seek immediate help."

He continued, "I have tried to deal with these issues by myself over the past year.  I know that I need professional help, and I am now 100 per cent committed to getting myself right."

In a release today (May 1), Stintz said Ford's comments were "gross" and is "disappointed by the misogynistic language used by Mayor Ford."

Perhaps this is part of the reason why his office is looking for a new junior staffer?

According to the CBC, Ford is not dropping out of this November's mayoral race.
