Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio imagines a new America will look a lot like Vancouver

A Republican candidate for president of the United States has put forward an unexpected vision for his country.

He wants it to look like Vancouver.

At least that’s what the latest ad from the Marc Rubio camp would seem to suggest.

“It's morning again in America,” a narrator says as the accompanying video displays a sun rising over a downtown skyline that is most definitely Vancouver, Canada.

It’s totally possible that the prominent display of our liberal city in an advertisement for an ultra right-wing conservative is the result of a poor selection of stock footage that nobody bothered to check for accuracy.

Just about everything the narrator goes on to say was apparently published without anybody fact-checking a word of it. (We’re going to give Rubio the benefit of the doubt and assume he would never intentionally mislead the public with a political ad that wasn’t honest.) I’m sure this was all just a slip-up.

Or perhaps it wasn't and Rubio is a genuine fan of gun control, socialized medicine, and more dispensary marijuana than you can smoke in a lifetime.
