Live Nation has announced that American rock band the Afghan Whigs will play a show at the Commodore Ballroom on Friday, August 29, in support of its seventh studio album, Do to the Beast.

Formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1988, the group became known for its blend of hard rock and classic soul.

Do to the Beast is the first new album by the Afghan Whigs since 1998's 1965

"A lot of records I've done stemmed from epochal experiences in my life -- and this time I've used them all," frontman Greg Dulli says of the new album. "These new songs are very visual to me. They come from the neighborhoods of my mind. It's like 'Rashomon,' with the story told from different points of memory."

Tickets for the 19+ show are priced at $30 (plus service charges and fees) and go on sale Friday, May 16, at 10 a.m. on the Live Nation website.

Tickets will also be available for purchase by phone at 1-855-985-5000, at Red Cat Records, and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
