Spur Vancouver will take place at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts (149 Hastings Street) from May 22 to 25. The national festival of politics, arts, and ideas brings together the most provocative thinkers, scholars, artists, activists, journalists, and entrepreneurs from across Canada and beyond.

Spur opened in Winnipeg in March and will close in Vancouver after making stops in Toronto, Calgary, and Ottawa. This year’s theme is Signal vs. Noise: finding meaning in a saturated world, which aims to examine how consumers can filter through the noise and focus on the trends and issues that really matter.

In Vancouver, events include This City in Seven Years: My Greenest City, where experts will make the case for their vision of what it means to be the greenest city in the world; On Galleries, which will discuss the role of an art gallery; Signal&Noise.com, a discussion on new technologies and how they are changing the way we think; Quantified Culture, where cultural data practitioners will reveal what makes a hit; The World in Seven Years: Public Transit, which looks at public transportation and urban living; and Managing a Political Brand, which examines how one manages a political personality amidst the noise of politics.

Tickets to Spur Vancouver are $10 to $25 and festival passes are $125. Tickets can be purchased online in advance.
