Don Henley responds to Robert Plant's claim that the Eagles are bored

It looks like there’s a bit of a feud brewing between a couple of seventies-rock heavyweights.

While doing interviews to promote the upcoming release of expanded Led Zeppelin reissuesRobert Plant held fast to his opinion that the band should not reunite simply to make a shipload more money.

“Do you know why the Eagles said they’d reunite when ‘hell freezes over’,” Plant told Rolling Stone earlier this month, “but they did it anyway and keep touring? It’s not because they were paid a fortune. It’s not about the money. It’s because they’re bored. I’m not bored.”

Anyone who’s seen Plant perform in the last few years–as he did in Vancouver with the Band of Joy in 2011–knows that he’s not the least bit bored. As for the Eagles, I’ve seen them a couple of times when they did seem to be going through the motions. I mean, if not for the efforts of non-original member Joe Walsh–the Eddie Shack of rock ‘n’ roll–some of those gigs would have been major snoozefests.

At any rate, in a recent interview with the New Zealand Herald, Don Henley took exception to Plant’s description of the band that will gladly play “Hotel California” to its grave.

“No, I am never bored,” he said. “The truth is, we enjoy doing it. It is hard work, especially for gentlemen of our age, but the fact is it’s a fantastic job and it’s a wonderful way to make a living and see the world and get to travel and we take our kids with us.”

“I really wish [Led Zeppelin] would get back together because they were one of the greatest bands of all time,” Henley continued. “I think maybe Robert is worried about hitting those notes. He may not be able to unbutton his shirt any more.”

...and Don Henley merely unbuttons his lip.

I'm sure Robert Plant meant to say the Eagles are BORING.

Regardless of Planet stating that he belongs to some higher moral authority on ones art the fact of the matter is he is disrespecting the fans of Led Zepplin whom feathered his nest very nicely for him to be able to do as he pleases.
He owes it to those SAME fans to pull his self righteous head out of his ass and perform the music that made him rich for the fans. It's called MUTUAL respect. Fucking twat!
      And the Eagles still suck.

Good god, Patrick. So just because the fans bought their records and lived the cult, now Robert Plant must bow down to their needs? Yea, he owes it? Ick.

On another note, I just posted my kickass cover of "Heart of the Matter". I find the Eagles much more accessible, even if it's boring.

Given a choice, I'd rather hear the sound of my own toots than be forced, as I am by a 'boss' that refuses to turn off CFMI, to listen Robert Plant screaming like Taylor Swift.

I like to say that they are a totally different kind of music. But I do think that Plant cannot perform the way he did.. and never will.. But don't start knocking other bands, just because you can't cut it anymore... Plant used to be one of my favorite singers of all time. Now he just seems so full of himself, would rather go see the Eagles Later Plant... I am done
