3:01 Pick Me Up: Buzzcocks

    1 of 2 2 of 2

Let’s face it: 3 p.m. is the cruellest time of the workday. The morning latte has worn off, and the post-lunch crash has you staggering around like an extra from a George A. Romero flick. That’s why, each weekday at 3:01 p.m., we present you with a video hand-picked to kick-start your heart. (Well, in theory we do this every day. In reality, not so much.)

Today’s offering: There's so much goodness happening in this vintage Buzzcocks clip that it's hard to know where to start. What's the best part? Could it be that this video, made in 1978, pioneered the "band-against-a-plain-white-backdrop" formula that has been imitated so many times since? (I'm totally guessing about that.) Could it be that the guys in the Buzzcocks didn't dress or groom themselves in any way that could be called "punk", and yet they were still punk as fuck? Could it be that Pete Shelley's teeth were approximately the same colour as Steve Garvey's trousers? Watch and decide for yourself.
