CTV news anchor Tamara Taggart named Broadcaster of the Year

The B.C. Association of Broadcasters gave CTV's Tamara Taggart one of its top honours at a ceremony last night in Whistler.

Taggart, who co-anchors CTV News Vancouver with Mike Killeen, was selected as Broadcaster of the Year.

For many years, Taggart was the station's popular weather forecaster before becoming one of the news anchors in 2011.

In 2009, she was the only Canadian chosen to cohost a TV show with Regis Philbin in New York City, interviewing Geraldo Rivera and Renee Zellweger.

The award comes after Taggart went public about her battle with cancer.

In the fall/winter 2013 issue of the BC. Cancer Foundation's magazine, Forward, she revealed that a 10-centimetre tumour had been removed from her small intestine in 2012.

It was a "gastrointestinal stromal tumour", which is "relatively rare", according to the article, striking only 15 out of every million people.

In addition to anchoring the news, the mother of three also writes the Modern Mommy Blog on CTV's B.C. website.

so the Broadcasters decided.... not the viewers? Seems like all the movie/music awards... she is fine but not the best

Actually she sucks. That serious look she always has on her face always slays me. Ok weather girl but as a main broadcaster made me stop watching CTV news altogether.

I agree - she was okay as a weather person, but as a leading broadcaster on a 6:00 newscast? I feel like I'm watching a robot reading off of a teleprompter. She has zero personality in front of the camera and she barely moves. It's like her face is frozen. Also made me stop watching the broadcast. Chris Gailus on Global in WAY better - such a natural in front of the camera and I feel like he's simply having a conversation with the camera and its viewers at home. Tamara Taggart is very robotic-like. Why they didn't pick Coleen Christie to do that newscast is beyond me. And she sucked on Regis and Kelly! She barely said anything and looked very nervous. In fact, she had that deer-caught-in-the-headlights-look the whole time. Very unprofessional. I'm guessing she gets by on her looks alone, which she's gradually losing as well.

Aforesaid comments are not worth the dignity of being printed! Be neither jealous nor envious of one who is gentle and very human, who is an attractive being in face and soul.
Objectively, Tamara Taggart is sensitive and natural in her appearance and presentations. Certainly shows human kindness and awareness - no, she does not have the "hard face" and manner which could be and has been adopted by others who have become almost immune to humanity in all its painful and joyful times. She emits the joy of life and is not afraid to show the pain she feels and understands that others may experience.
Your comments are destructive rather and constructive and certainly too personal to be fair.
Tamara Taggart is all "human" - we would do well to have more "human" broadcasters than those who have become "hard".
