TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival announces eight concerts

      TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival has just announced a series of eight major concerts at the Vogue Theatre (918 Granville) and Christ Church Cathedral (690 Burrard).

      On June 24, Japanese jazz pianist-composer Hiromi Uehara will hit the Vogue Theatre with bassist Anthony Jackson, drummer Simon Phillips, and guest Alicia Hansen. Hiromi, as she's usually called, performed at the festival in 2014.

      Canadian jazz group the Oliver Jones Trio, alongside the Oliver Gannon Quartet, takes the stage at the Vogue Theatre on June 25.

      On June 27, Christ Church Cathedral hosts a concert by French jazz ensemble the Jacky Terrasson Trio.

      On June 27, Toronto jazz powerhouse the Legendary Downchild Blues Band, with Steve Hill, will be headlining at the Vogue Theatre.

      American jazz ensemble the Joe Lovano Classic Quartet, with the Matt Choboter Trio, hits the Vogue Theatre on June 28.

      June 29 sees Norwegian pianist-composer Tord Gustavsen perform with Simin Tander and Jarle Vespestad at Christ Church Cathedral.

      On June 30, Christ Church Cathedral hosts a classical-jazz mashup featuring the Alan Matheson Septet and the Pacific Baroque Orchestra.

      On July 2, the Vogue Theatre hosts a performance by Grammy Award-winning vocalist Gregory Porter, with the Bruno Hubert Trio.

      Tickets for all concerts go on sale this Friday (March 18), 10 am, online.
