Uli Jon Roth is keen to make his Vancouver debut and feel the "Hendrix connection"

When I was wrapping up my interview with Uli Jon Roth last week–in advance of his Ultimate Guitar Experience show in Vancouver tomorrow–I asked him when he last played here.

Turns out that, even though the 61-year-old guitar legend has spent a large part of his life traveling all over the world on various tours, he’s never actually set foot in Vancouver before. He's psyched about visiting here, in part because of the city's "connection" to a certain rock legend from Seattle.

"I've played in Canada before, but all just Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto several times. I never made it to Vancouver, don't ask me why--it's strange. I always wanted to go, people say its very, very beautiful.

"I've got some friends there," he added, "and of course then there's the whole Jimi Hendrix connection in Vancouver; he used to go there a lot. So I'm looking forward to it."
