Men tweet support for women's rights with #AllMenCan
In the wake of the shootings in Isla Vista, California, in May, the #YesAllWomen campaign launched on Twitter for women to share their personal experiences with misogyny, harassment, and rape.
The campaign was in response to the alleged shooter, 22-year-old Elliot Rodger, who wrote a 140-page manifesto against women.
When PolicyMic editor Elizabeth Plank (originally from Quebec) asked men to share what it means to be a man who supports women, the #AllMenCan hashtag was born and men began voicing their support for women's rights and gender equality.
Here's a sample of just some of the tweets:
#AllMenCan understand that a dress is not a yes. Women don't owe you anything.

#AllMenCan stop calling women the b-word. In music, in life, in general. Fellas, we know better and must be better.

#AllMenCan call out other men when they make sexist remarks... especially when women are not around.

As a man and a person I'm so glad to see this movement happening!
