This week, the only game you need to own gets a release date. Minecraft gets Overworld, fight for your life in New York with Tom Clancy’s The Division, Disney Infinity 3.0 gets some more superheroes, and YouTube Gaming comes to Canada.

Play No Man's Sky on June 21

No Man's Sky, the game that will never be completed in our collective lifetimes, becomes playable on June 21.

Developed by indie studio Hello Games and available for PS4 and Windows, the space exploration and adventure game is procedurally generated, so the planets that you visit, and the creatures on those planets, are all created as you visit them.

The game has space battles, code breaking, resource management, and never-ending exploration. All set to a soundtrack by 65daysofstatic.

It just may be the only game you'll ever need to own.

      Overworld Update comes to Minecraft

The latest update to the Windows 10 and Pocket Edition versions of Minecraft have been released.

The Overworld update introduces witches and advanced mechanical contraptions, and lets players dye armour in cauldrons.

It is also now possible to import and export maps with the Windows 10 edition.

The Division feels a lot like Destiny and that's just fine

Tom Clancy’s The Division from Ubisoft was released last week. The game, which includes single player missions, team-based activities, and multiplayer modes all seamlessly integrated, is structurally a lot like Destiny. It even has daily and weekly missions to keep gamers playing regularly.

But the setting for The Division is very terrestrial, and revolves around a post-pandemic storyline like so many Ubisoft games recently (viral infections must be part of Ubi DNA).

Available for PS4, Windows, and Xbox One, Ubisoft will be releasing a series of free updates for the game starting in April. Three paid expansions will extend The Division over the next year.

Marvel Battlegrounds brings brawling to Infinity

Releasing this week is the new play set for Disney Infinity 3.0, Marvel Battlegrounds. Three new characters join the roster: Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Vision.

Developed in Vancouver at United Front Games, Battlegrounds brings four-player arcade fighting to Infinity for the first time.

YouTube Gaming app comes to Canada

Gamers love to play games, and they like to watch others play games, too. Swedish caster PewDiePie, for example, has more than 42.6 million subscribers. That's bigger than the population of Canada.

YouTube knows that gaming videos are popular, which is why the video streaming site created a dedicated gaming channel.

From walkthroughs to livestreams, YouTube Gaming aggregates any video that has to do with video games and pushes it to a mobile app. The app was released in the U.K. and U.S. last summer, and last week became available in Canada.

Pick it up for your Android or iOS device and you can add your favourite games and gamers with simple taps.

If you're using YouTube Gaming on Android, you can also capture video on your mobile, including commentary using your device's selfie camera.
