Couldn't make it out last night? You missed Canadian folk group Timber Timbre at the Commodore. Melanie was there and caught a moment of the show on Instagram. Here’s your concert pick of the morning. Timber Timbre at the Commodore Ballroom on June 10, 2014. Thanks Melanie.

Most weekdays and occasionally on the weekend, the Straight highlights a shot from one of the previous night's music events. It's our Concert Pic of the Morning. This band has a complex, and confounding artistic sensibility. The first time I heard them, I was a little put off by the almost morbid and defeated mood of the songs. That was my first impression in truth. But after a few encounters, I was sucked in like a moth to a flame.
Musically, you find remarkably crafted songs that are generally sparse and precise, and often positively hypnotic and mesmerizing.
Lyrically, they are hands down the most unique and darkly poetic group you are likely to come across. You will not digest the meanings easily. It is a combination that doesn't play well to the mainstream but will cobble together a cult-like following of devoted followers who will be captured by the shimmering beauty of its aesthetic and the rich imagery. If you have an artistic sensibility, do yourself a favor, and give this band a long look.
