Nothing says summer like a party on the beach. The folks at Arrival Agency—who organize Food Cart Fest—are launching Sunset Beach Social on June 27. The free arts, food, and music event will take place at Sunset Beach (south of Beach Avenue between Thurlow and Bute Streets) from 5 p.m. until sunset on July 11 and August 15 as well.
“We're bringing a classic California beach-party experience to Vancouver,” Daniel Fazio of Arrival Agency stated in a news release. “In addition to outstanding food, there’ll also be the expansive, irreverent fun people have come to expect and love at our events.”
Similar to Food Cart Fest, the evening event will showcase a handful of the city’s food trucks, including Culver City Salads, Dougie Dog, Eli’s Serious Sausage, Feastro the Rolling Bistro, Johnny’s Pops, Kaboom Box, Reef Runner, Roaming Dragon, Soho Road Naan Kebab, Sweet Ride, Taser Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Vij’s Railway Express, Yolk’s Breakfast, and Ze Bite.
Sunset Beach Social will also feature an art market curated by community-based arts and crafts studio Blim, an outdoor roller disco organized by Rough Trade and RollerGirl.ca, a sand castle competition, and performers.
Admission to the all-ages event is free. Attendees to the June 27 launch can obtain a voucher for a free meal by signing up for an nTrust money-transfer account ahead of the event.
