More Bitcoin ATMs in Vancouver

Earlier this week, I wrote about Quadriga CX's plans to install 30 Bitcoin ATMs in the Vancouver area. In that story, I mentioned that there are already at least five places in the city where the public can use a Bitcoin ATM.

Two of these ATMs just went live in the past month. Lost + Found Café (33 West Hastings Street) has a Lamassu model, which converts Canadian cash into bitcoins. You can buy yourself a latte there with bitcoins too.

On June 12, Symple Internet Financial Limited installed a Robocoin model at Thai Vietnamese Cuisine (986 West Broadway), which is open 24-7. Like the world's first Bitcoin ATM—also a Robocoin—at Waves Coffee House (100-900 Howe Street), this machine accepts cash for bitcoins and vice versa.

Albert Buu, co-owner of Symple, told the Georgia Straight via email that the transaction fee on their ATM is five percent. Symple takes four percent and Robocoin gets one percent, while Symple pays the restaurant a monthly hosting fee. Symple is looking to place its second ATM in Calgary.

No doubt the transaction fee for these machines is paid in Canadian dollars - a real currency.

Hey Dutchman, so you changed your canadian dollars for bitcoins, then you purchased something. So you paid extra for the items you purchased because you had to pay a transaction fee for the exchange. Why do you think the merchant is charging a transaction fee in canadian dollars and not bitcoin????? Ask all those people who lost money the last time a bitcoin exchange crashed, then ask yourself who will lose the next time a bitcoin exchange crashes??? You??? The word of the day is SCAM!!!
