CKNW and CFOX-FM say goodbye to Todd Hancock, Neil Morrison, Stu Walters, Tom Mark, and Terry Bell

Some well-known broadcasters have received pink slips from Corus Radio.

It comes after Corus Entertainment's radio division recorded a sharp drop in profitability in the first two quarters of this fiscal year.

CKNW newscasters Tom Mark and Terry Bell, CKNW sportscaster Stu Walters, and CFOX-FM disc jockeys Todd Hancock and Neil Morrison are reportedly out the door.

The Straight has emailed Corus Radio Vancouver's general manager Brad Phillips seeking comment, but hadn't heard back as of this writing.

The share price of the parent company, Corus Entertainment, closed at $24.58 today, roughly halfway between its 52-week high and low.

Second-quarter revenues and net income were up this year over the same quarter of last year, according to the company's most recent financial statement.

However, much of that came from the television side of the business.

In its radio operations, Corus Entertainment revenues fell six percent over the first two quarters.

And what's worse for the bean counters at head office, profitability was down 15 percent on the radio side of the business over the same period.

Todd Hancock fans can still enjoy his work, thanks to YouTube.

Get rid of Bill Boring and Campbell the Younger, as they are tired, very tired.

Try doing real news instead of infomercials and canned programs and ask Rafe Mair to run a show, one day a week.

The Dead Dog '98 is going down for the third time and for one, I wouldn't shed a tear.

News 1130 has been the only dependable station in town for years now anyways.

Team 1040 ate their lunch. Then they decided to save money and have network blowhards solidify their reputation as the station for people who want the kids to get off their lawns. Then those people all died. Corus couldn't manage my sock drawer.

Who listens to the radio anymore unless you are in your car? I'll maybe listen to a little news or a Canucks or BC Lions game once in a blue moon. The Fox has sucked for years with their crappy song selection, they haven't been good since 1989 when they had Larry & Willy in the morning.

Except Neil and Todd were there for a while so they were probably making more $$$ while these "new" guys are making less. That's unfortunately kind of how business works Harley

I listen to The Fox all day in my office. I'm not a big Todd fan but, I will miss Nemo. What a drag. The "new" guys are alright but Carmen is kinda flat. Way to go, Corus.
