Video: Why B.C. Teachers Are Angry

    1 of 1 2 of 1

As you can imagine, any amusing video spoofing the B.C. Liberal government's approach to teacher negotiations is going to be a hit with teachers.

This one, which is being passed around over Twitter, was posted on YouTube yesterday.

It was written by and stars Andy Nez. The audio recording is by Jeff Unruh and the film was directed and edited by Jason Simpson.

Meanwhile, the Campbell River School District has cancelled summer school in response to the teachers strike.

The superintendent, Thomas G.S. Longridge, revealed this in a statement posted on the district's website.

"Yesterday we received information that the teachers union will be continuing their strike action into July 2014, and that all sites where Summer School is being taught will be picketed," Longridge wrote. "Given this situation, School District 72 has decided not to provide Summer School Programs this year."

Any parents who've paid a cash deposit for textbooks will get their money back "once school commences in September".

Possibly the teachers are angry because the public isn't buying into their rhetoric and they now realize they are stuck with egg on their faces. And they get to keep their lame union management staff. I bet the union staff is on full pay!!

      Great spoof!
Alarming that Canadians are all not appalled at a government that strips contracts

IF the public that doesn't buy into "their rhetoric " they will be paying for more. I'd rather pay for the teachers 8 % raise and more support for the classroom a week ago MUCH MORE than after the governments federal appeals... In knowing how they made out fighting the Nurses union in the Supreme Court of Canada, and that very case was sited during the provincial level cases the government having us pay for. Because that's just more money being thrown away to lawyers instead of classrooms and teachers

Hi Blue. Some do and some don't, others don't care enough to see it either way .. Many don't know they are being suppressed by some employers on wages and or benefits and or pensions. Some don't even understand why others would rather fight than blame someone else for their choices in career or compensation

The union representatives in Burnaby Teachers Association ("the teacher's union in Burnaby) have converted their wages to grocery cards for teachers... I got my grocery card!
