ShitHarperDid's fake economic action plan generates more daily visits than Conservatives' real plan

The political satirists at ShitHarperDid have hit a bull's-eye with their mock Economic Action Plan website, which was launched last week.

It attracted 20,000 site visiters per day on the first two days.

According to a news release the comedy troupe issued this morning, its viewership exceeds the 15,000 daily visits to the Conservatives' real Economic Action Plan website after a TV and radio advertising campaign in the spring.

ShitHarperDid's newest ad deconstructs the Conservatives' claims about being on the side of women and racial minorities.

ShitHarperDid bought the EconomicActionPlan.ca URL for $9 after the government spent $14.8 million on ads last year promoting it.

One of the creators of the EconomicActionPlan.ca site, Shane Ingles, said in the news release that he lost his job two years ago and went back to school at the age of 32. Since then, all he's experienced is "unemployment, precarious work, unpaid internships and more unemployment".

"I'm not alone, unemployment for people under 35 in Canada is nearly double the national average," he said. "On top of that, as a person of colour, I'm part of a population that still struggles for equal pay. For every dollar earned by white Canadians, racialized Canadian workers earn only 81.4 cents."

We might suggest that the CBC hire Ingles, given his imaginative work with ShitHarperDid.

But in the Harper era, the Crown-owned broadcaster is not exactly on a hiring binge these days.
