Retail Insider reported today (April 18) that Saint Laurent Paris will open its first Canadian freestanding store in Vancouver.

According to the website, the French fashion house, which dropped the "Yves" from its name four years ago in an effort to draw a younger audience, will open in the city's growing "luxury zone" at 746 Thurlow Street. The store will be nestled between Moncler and the recently opened Prada and will be just steps away from Versace, Burberry, and Escada.

The 5,000-square-foot space will carry Saint Laurent's ready-to-wear collections for men and women, plus accessories and footwear. The store will be one of the largest Saint Laurent shops in North America, rivaled only by the design house's New York City and Beverly Hills locations.

Saint Laurent currently operates 17 standalone and two outlet stores in the U.S. Currently, select pieces from the brand can be found at Vancouver's Nordstrom, Holt Renfrew, and Leone stores.
