The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Verses Festival of Words

From April 21 to May 1, the Verses Festival of Words hits various Vancouver venues.

The event, Canada's largest alternative literary festival, launches its sixth season with over 35 events such as competitions, performances, workshops, and readings.

In addition, the Verses Festival of Words also hosts Hullaballoo: B.C.'s Youth Spoken Word Festival and the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Championship.

This year, attendees can expect to see celebrated wordsmiths Ivan Coyote, Richard Wagamese, Wayde Compton, Amber Dawn, Janet Rogers, Winona Linn, Leah Horlick, Rachel Rose, Kai Cheng Thom, and Ian Keteku.

Participating venues include the York Theatre, the Cultch Historic Theatre, the Culture Lab, the Rio Theatre, Havana Theatre, Cafe Deux Soleils, the Storm Crow Tavern, SPACE on Clark, and the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch.
