Music on Main presents The Orpheus Project at the Cultch (1895 Venables Street) from July 17 to 20. Evening shows start at 8 p.m. and matinées on July 19 and 20 begin at 2 p.m.

The Orpheus Project is an immersive site-specific journey that explores why Orpheus remains such a vital figure and powerful influence into the 21st century. The performance combines music and theatre.

Inspired by Vancouver’s HIVE collective and London’s dreamthinkspeak and Punchdrunk, The Orpheus Project reimagines the performance spaces within The Cultch. Audiences roam throughout the theatre, uncovering secret rooms, mysterious music, interactive vignettes, and more, culminating in an immersive choose-your-own adventure experience.

The Orpheus Project was conceived by Music on Main artistic director and founder David Pay and brings together composers Jocelyn Morlock, Veda Hille, Barry Truax, Alfredo Santa Ana, Colin Browne, Cassandra Miller, James Maxwell, and Louis Andriessen. Performers include Patti Allan, Veda Hille, Carla Huhtanen, Steve Maddock, Laura Barron, Mark Takeshi McGregor, Christopher Bagan, and Rebecca Wenham.

Tickets to The Orpheus Project start at $20 and can be purchased online in advance.
