Vancouver once again listed as most expensive city in Canada

Vancouver is on top once again. Much to our chagrin, it's on a list that Vancouverites would prefer it wasn't on.

Yes, once again our fair city has been crowned the most expensive city in Canada for the second year in a row.

On Mercer's 2014 Cost of Living Survey, which ranks the most pricey cities in the world, Vancouver comes in at number 96 (down 32 spots), followed by Toronto at number 101, Montreal at 123, and Calgary at 125.

The good news is that all Canadian cities dropped in rank due to weakened Canadian dollar.

New York City was the most expensive North American city, at number 16, followed by Los Angeles (62) and San Francisco (74).

Honolulu followed Vancouver at 97. (Hmm, if we're paying the same cost of living, which would you prefer: surf and sun or rain and yoga pants?)

The survey measures the cost of over 200 items in each location, such as housing, transportation, food, clothes, household items, and entertainment.

But if you think we've got it bad here, consider that there are tons of other cities ahead of us.

Two African cities topped the list, while Asian and European cities (three from Switzerland) rounded out the top 10.

      1. Luanda, Angola
      2. N’Djamena, Chad
      3. Hong Kong
      4. Singapore
      5. Zurich, Switzerland
      6. Geneva, Switzerland
      7. Tokyo, Japan
      8. Bern, Switzerland
      9. Moscow, Russia
      10. Shanghai, China

      No Surprise....

I've been all over Canada and the Canadians back east are the most friendliest people I’ve ever seen. But Vancouver is in a league of its own for meeting and socializing with people, but as far as a place to live? Vancouver is hands down the best City to live in, this is why we pay what we pay..

Unless you like living in -30 places, then you'll realize how good Vancouver is. I just wish there wasn't such an attitude issue here :(
