Jerry Seinfeld's taste in VHS horror, circa 1996, kinda sucked
I was just watching an old Seinfeld rerun—a 1996 episode called “The Shower Head” where Jerry and his buddies are forced to purchase “black market” showerheads through Newman because they can’t get enough water pressure to decently rinse their hair—and noticed something interesting.
At the part in the show where Elaine corners Jerry’s mom on the way to his washroom so she can intercept some of her pee for a drug test, you can clearly see some of the VHS titles on the bookshelf to their left.
What caught my eye among the titles—which include Goodfellas, The Hunt for Red October, and Back to the Future III—was 1990's Child’s Play 2.
Who knew that Jerry Seinfeld had a hankering for lame-ass horror sequels?
The series’ prop master at the time deserves a cuff for not choosing a scary flick that would have given its fictional owner a little more street cred among us horror freaks.
The original Child’s Play from '88 would have definitely done the trick.

1) Great find.
2) I respectfully disagree about Child's Play 2. Nothing in the first film tops the climactic chase through the doll factory that ends with Chucky -- legs severed, hand replaced by a knife -- getting coated in searing rubber and inflated like a balloon until he pops.
