Did you know it's B.C. Water Week?

There are a number of events going on throughout the province to draw attention to conserving, protecting, and supporting our water resources.

If you're concerned about our water supply and want to help maintain adequate levels, or want to prepare for water restrictions, two municipalities are having rain barrel sales.

The water that rain barrels catch can be used for watering your garden and help to save the usage of treated drinking water.

The barrels (208L) cost $55 each, and each barrel includes an overflow spout, a hose, and an insect-resistant stainless steel filter. (City of Vancouver residents are eligible for a $10 rebate.) Unfortunately, online pre-ordering for both sales are closed.

The North Shore rainbarrel sale will take place at Ambleside Park (1150 Marine Drive, West Vancouver) on Saturday (May 7) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, the City of Langley and the City of Surrey are hosting a rain barrel sale at Willowbrook Shopping Centre (19705 Fraser Highway, Langley) on Sunday (May 8) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
