Hacked: Festival postponed to 2015 due to “serious financial speed bump”

The organizers of the Hacked: Festival had planned to celebrate "disruptive innovation" at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre from August 11 to 14.

But they've "encountered a serious financial speed bump", so the inaugural fest has been postponed until sometime in 2015.

In a statement on the fest's website, the organizers say:

Our goal was to produce a world-class, awesomely cool, high tech event like no other - that is still the goal, but with this financial set back it just isn’t possible for this year. We wanted to give you the best. We are so proud to have had so many awesome people and companies support us from the beginning of this journey are we can’t wait to host the event in 2015. We are truly disappointed that it will not be happening this year - it just needed more time to come together.

Our ticket sales have been closed and all pass and ticket holders are being reimbursed and notified immediately. We would like to thank all our partners, speakers, exhibitors, participants and friends that are supportive of the event and we can’t wait to share our renewed vision and dates with you.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that the postponement of the festival may cause to the city, participants and speakers of the festival.

Plans for the fest included a conference, an arcade, exhibits, a film night, hackerspaces, a market, parties, and workshops.
