For 43 years, the Jewish Museum and Archives of B.C. has preserved and shared the history of the Jewish community in the province.

Now the museum hopes to post more of this history online. It's launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, with the goal of raising $18,000 by September 19 to build a new website.

“The thousands of visitors we’ve had to our recent online exhibit More Than Just Mrs. has really demonstrated the broader community’s desire to see more of our community history online,” JMABC coordinator of programs and development Michael Schwartz said in a news release today (June 28). “Our community has so many great stories and interesting characters, we want to make sure they are remembered. This new website will let us bring our history into the 21st Century.”

At time of writing, the museum had raised over $3,200. Donors who give $72 are eligible to receive a walking tour of the Jewish burial grounds at the Mountain View Cemetery.

Since the closure of its space at the Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver in 2010, the JMABC has been without a permanent exhibition facility. The museum is run by the Jewish Historical Society of British Columbia.
