Today (May 16) marks Alex Grigg’s first day at the helm of Music BC.

Music BC is a non-profit organization that supports artists and professionals through education, funding, and performance opportunities. Sliding into the role of executive director, Grigg will lead the society in its mission to develop the growth and sustainability of British Columbia’s music community. It’s a pretty daunting job description by anyone’s standards—but fortunately Grigg is a steady pair of hands.

With a résumé boasting managerial roles at Canada’s largest talent booking organization The Feldman Agency, TD Vancouver’s International Jazz Festival, and West Vancouver’s Ambleside Live Concerts, Grigg has been a top-level director and familiar face in BC’s music industry for more than 20 years.

Helping to steer the careers of some of Canada’s most successful artists, Griggs has represented acts as varied as Said The Whale, Swollen Members, and Loverboy. With his encyclopaedic knowledge of different genres, Grigg is well-placed to nurture BC’s blossoming music scene.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Music BC,” Grigg says, “and I’m excited to work closely with all of our colleagues in the industry. It’s an honor to be given this opportunity and I look forward to leading the next phase in the organization’s development.”

To celebrate Grigg’s new appointment, Music BC is extending an invitation to meet him at their upcoming SchMusic BC Networking Party at the Biltmore on June 2. For full event details, visit the Music BC website.
