Notion Motion festival releases full lineup

We know what you’re thinking: Why would I drive eight hours to a festival in Golden when Pemberton is basically in my backyard?

Easy. Not only is the road trip a great chance to get used to life without a flushing toilet, today’s announcement reveals a lineup that’s more than worth a quick jaunt down Route 1.

Headlined by dubstep darling Au5 alongside costumed DJ Bear Grillz and U.K. drum and bass maestro Danny Byrd, Motion Notion’s 4-day extravaganza is set to be one of B.C.’s largest electronic music events. With multiple stages packed with international and local talent, this boutique festival teams world-class performers with up-and-coming B.C. artists.

New for this year are three party-within-a-party shows put on by culture blog Betty and Kora, Calgary house and techno label Substation Recordings, and talent agency Wolfcastle. Providing some daytime summer vibes, these groups are slated to bring a unique flavour to each day.

Electronic music festivals live or die by their sound quality, and Motion Notion promises to deliver. The three main stages have been completely redesigned with their own first-class PK Sound Systems, and the festival features a solid roster of VJs to boot.

In addition to a full lineup of music, Motion Notion features a cedar sauna, glass blowing, sensory deprivation tanks, a shisha lounge, a Slip n Slide, and more. Set in beautiful surroundings of untouched forests and glacial rivers, it’s almost worth staying a few days after your fellow ravers have packed up their birkenstocks. And don’t worry about bringing any extra dollars for camping—it’s all included in your ticket.

Notion Motion might be a little off the beaten track, but it’s definitely worth the trek.
