On Monday morning (August 4), Vancouver resident Ovey Yeung was struck by a car on Pacific Boulevard near Abbott Street. Vancouver police have said it was a hit and run.

Yeung, a 26-year-old publicist who works for tech startup BitLit, received a "serious head injury". This landed her in hospital in critical condition and in a medically induced coma.

Friends are rallying to support Yeung and her family. They've already donated over $23,000 to an Indiegogo campaign in support of her recovery.

The Indiegogo page states: "The campaign amount is a number which we believe can be met, and, are hopeful will be greatly exceeded. The funds are not only for the short-term, but will be to help Ovey and her family through the long and arduous process of rehabilitation."

The campaign has a goal of $25,000 and closes on August 31. The proceeds will go to a trust fund being established for Yeung.

On Monday, police said they were looking for a "dark-coloured Honda Civic with probable front-end damage". Video obtained by police showed "several witnesses" to the incident.

Ovey is still in serious condition but remains stable at the moment. We have been told by her doctors that she will remain in Intensive Care for a number of weeks.
