Watch your back at Squamish Fest, Hawksley Workman!

Even before I entered the Squamish Valley Music Festival grounds early this afternoon, I had already witnessed the day's first impressive performance. Under a bridge a couple of minutes down the road, a young busker—who couldn't have been more than five or six years old—was bashing out a drum solo on a junior-sized kit for a small audience.

Mounties will soon be appearing as Sunday's first main stage performer. If Hawksley Workman's performance on the drums is at all lacking, I know of a little go-getter who will happily take his place. Watch your back, Hawksley!

Upon entering the main gate, I was patted down and every cranny of my backpack was rigorously searched. Less than a minute later, someone handed me a free lighter with a pot leaf logo. I'm receiving mixed messages here.

Canada's pot capital and triple the Squamish population attended yet not one incident of drugs or alcohol poisoning. Incredible!
