      Canadian indie-rock singer-songwriter Mac DeMarco tours in support of latest full-length release Salad Days and EP Another One. Held at Malkin Bowl.

      London-based rock band Savages tours in support of latest release Adore Life at the Imperial.

      Seattle surf-rock band La Luz tours in support of latest release Weirdo Shrine, with guests Sick Sad World, at the Biltmore Cabaret.

      Local metal band Without Mercy performs at an album-release show, with guests Neck of the Woods, Dead Asylum, Xul, and Obsidian, at the Rickshaw Theatre.

       

      BENEFITS

      The Dining for Dreams Gala raises funds for the B.C. Centre for Ability. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel.

       

      FOOD AND DRINK

      Vancouver Craft Beer Week features an opening-night event, the Collaboration Tape Takeover, a pop-up bbq, a beer party, a first chance to taste the 2016 Canadian Brewing Award winners, a showcase of Belgian brews, and a sampling of fruit-flavoured beers. Opening at various Vancouver venues.

       

      FORUMS

      Food photographers Joann Pai and Tina Albrecht demo mobile photography, composition, lighting, and styling. Held at Place des Arts.

      Go behind the scenes with senior VFX artist Anders Egléus and VFX artist Daniel Kopp as the pair delve into how the team captured the look and feel of the original Star Wars trilogy for the video game. Held at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

       

      SPORTS

      All Star Wrestling presents wrestling matches featuring Tommy Dreamer, Adam Ryder, Kenny Lush, Chelsea, Malia Hosaka, Team USA, the Bollywood Boys,  Collin Cutler, Matt XStatic, Kobra Kai, Nick Price, Travis Sionys, and the Great Kasaki. Held at the Alice McKay Building, Cloverdale Fairgrounds.

       

      COMEDY

      Join Alicia Tobin and guests Brad Dorion, Ben Mills and Erica Sigurdson for an evening of drawing and laughing at the Hot Art Wet City Gallery.

      At CAGEMATCH: Tournament of Champions, three teams will have 20 minutes to wow audiences with jokes and stories. Held at Havana Theatre.

      Ottawa-born standup comedian Jon Dore performs a solo show at Yuk Yuk's Comedy Club.

       

      ARTS ET CETERA

      Semi-annual art walk ROVE maps out galleries, art studios, and creative spaces that will each feature a local artist’s work. Held at various Vancouver venues.

       

      DANCE

      The Richmond Art Gallery and dumb instrument dance present two dances that respond to the gallery's current exhibition by visual artist Lyse Lemieux. Held at the Richmond Art Gallery.

       

       

      LITERARY EVENTS

      VPL aboriginal storyteller-in-residence Renae Morriseau is available to meet and share experiences with emerging storytellers and community members. Held at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch.

      Professional artist Jeff Ellis will lead a discussion and hands-on workshop about comics and manga. Held at the Vancouver Public Library Central Branch.

      The Heartwood Community Cafe hosts the launch of Drawn to Change: Graphic Histories of Working-Class Struggle.

       

      MUSIC

      Vetta Chamber Music and guest pianist Angela Cheng present a 30th anniversary gala featuring music by Schubert, Mozart, and Brahms. Held at Christ Church Cathedral.

       

      MOVIES

      The Vancity Theatre screens Sunset Song, Terence Davies's drama about a farmer’s daughter enduring all that life can throw at her in World War I-era Scotland.

      Truman tells the story of a man who receives an unexpected visit from his friend. Screened at the Vancity Theatre.

      The First United Church screens Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore's latest investigative documentary.
