The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Vancouver Festival of Ocean Films

On June 5, the Vancouver Festival of Ocean Films takes over the Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour).

Taking place at 4 pm and 7:30 pm, the event uses an array of short documentaries and a feature film to raise awareness of the ocean as both a wilderness that merits respect and preservation and a place for adventure, sport, and responsible commerce.

This year's films include "Moving the Giants", "This Living Salish Sea", "Ireland's Oceans", "Reflections of an Underwater Cameraman", "Behind the Lines: Deeper", and Racing Extinction.

Andrew Cotton (star of "Behind the Lines: Deeper") and Olivia Ahnemann (producer of Racing Extinction) will be projected on the big screen for live conversations following their films.

Tickets for the Vancouver Festival of Ocean Films are $15 for each screening ($25 for both) and can be found online.
