An empty retail space sandwiched by a notary office and a sari clothing shop may become the next karaoke place in Vancouver.

City hall has received an application to develop 6231 Fraser Street between East 46th and 47th avenues into a restaurant, where patrons can sing their hearts out until 12 midnight.

The place will be called the Indochine Kitchen + Bar.

In a letter to city planners, the applicant wrote that the establishment aims to become a “destination restaurant for the Fraser [S]treet neighbourhood offering South East Asia fusion food and drink services to the community”.

Indochine plans to have an open kitchen concept with a bar lounge, dining area, and two private social rooms for entertaining.

Members of the public have until June 10 to comment on the development application.
