Slash's show at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver tonight promises lots of GN'R

If the setlist from Slash‘s show in San Francisco two nights ago is any indication, his Vancouver fans are in for a whole lotta GN’R action tonight.

During his show at the Fillmore the top-hatted guitar hero led his group the Conspirators, featuring vocalist Myles Kennedy, in no less than six Guns N’ Roses numbers, including one of my personal faves, “You Could Be Mine”, which you may recall from that kick-ass 1991 action flick, Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

All the other Guns tunes from the Fillmore gig–“Nighttrain”, “You’re Crazy”, “Rocket Queen”, “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, and the encore selection, “Paradise City”–were originally featured on the band’s legendary Appetite for Destruction album of 1987. (But that doesn’t mean that Slash won’t surprise us with that deathless cover of Nazareth’s “Hair of the Dog”, from his last GN’R albumThe Spaghetti Incident.)

Also worth mentioning from a local perspective is the fact that Slash’s current band features former Vancouver resident Todd Kerns on bass. Local rockheads will recognize him as a former founding member of Age of Electric, an underrated band that should have gone platinum everywhere, if you ask me. (AOE also featured Ryan Dahle, who’s currently in the Vancouver indie band Mounties, but is also known for leading the awesome power-pop trio Limblifter.)

Kerns–whose latest blog can be found here–is the type of wildly enthusiastic rocker who never shies from the spotlight. Which is why he’s been taking over the lead vocals from Kennedy on “You’re Crazy”. If you’re lucky enough to have scored tickets for tonight’s sold out show at the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver, you’ll see what I’m talkin’ about.

If you can peel your eyes away from Slash’s wicked Les Paul action for a second or two, that is.

Axl is still tearing it up. Great to hear YCBM again above, it is flawless on the recent GN'R 3-D concert movie.
