The Rolling Stones get help from Eric Clapton on new blues-heavy album

Coupla months back I blogged about how word had gotten out that the Rolling Stones were heading back to their blues roots for a new album to be released some time this year.

Well, now the news being bandied about is that none other than Eric Clapton will provide his God-like guitar stylings to a couple of that album's tracks.

Stones + Clapton = blues-rock gold, my friend.

British tabloid The Sun reported today that members of the Stones bumped into Clapton while recording new material at their studio in Chiswick, West London, with American producer Don Was.

“Eric was in the next studio along so he came in to say hello," a source revealed to The Sun. "They ended up jamming and recorded two songs. Don reckons it’s the best thing he has ever done with the Stones.”

As most Rolling Stones freaks know, an alternative version of "Brown Sugar" with Clapton on guitar was released on last year's Sticky Fingers rerelease.

The tune was allegedly recorded in December of 1970 during an impromptu jam at a birthday party held for Keef.

      Yeah, I wasn't invited either.
