American roots-rock greats Phil and Dave Alvin blasting back to Vancouver

Great news for fans of true-blue American roots-rock!

The Canadian Pacific Blues Society has announced that Dave and Phil Alvin--former leaders of the Blasters--will be returning to Vancouver for a show at the Imperial on Thursday, July 14.

They played the Electric Owl last summer, just before it closed down, and man was that a killer gig. It was so great that I scrounged a setlist from promoter Rockin' Ronnie Simmons and got the guys to autograph it.

Guests on the bill are locals Paul Pigat & Cousin Harley.

Tickets for the show are on sale now at such fine Vancouver record outlets as Highlife, Red Cat, Zulu, and my current fave, Neptoon Records. Go pick some up while searching the stacks for that mint vinyl copy of the Blasters' self-titled 1981 debut, the one that kicks off with "Marie Marie".
