"Aboriginal women are 3.5 times more likely than non-aboriginal women to be victims of violence."

This statistic is shown on screen near the start of Decolonizing Praxis: Supporting Survivors After Sexual Assault.

It's a new short film from Women Against Violence Against Women Rape Crisis Centre that's meant to be a resource for WAVAW's fellow service providers.

According to the WAVAW website, the film looks at "how anti-violence organizations supporting survivors of sexual violence can integrate a decolonizing approach to service delivery in all programming" and "how Aboriginal victims might gain access to our programs and navigate systems in an effective, meaningful and dignified way".

The film was produced by Orca Productions in association with WAVAW, with funding from WAVAW donors, the B.C. Ministry of Justice, and the Institute for Intersectionality Research and Policy at Simon Fraser University.
