A local lifestyle and entertainment show has ended after an 18-year run. The Rush, which was formerly called Urban Rush, will no longer be produced by Shaw TV.

Host Fiona Forbes announced over social media today (September 23) that the show’s final episode was taped in June, and a special “Farewell to the Rush” show will air on October 16 at 6 p.m.

“Tune in for some laughs, tears, and some very special guest stars to celebrate all the great years and amazing people who put together ‘the little TV show that could,’” Forbes wrote on Facebook. “This show, all our guests, and everyone who’s worked on The Rush in its many incarnations over the years, have been such a huge part of my career and my life. While we’re all sad to see The Rush come to an end, we are all so proud of the TV we’ve made over the last two decades and are excited for the next chapter.”

The Rush is an hour-long talk show that focused on the entertainment industry. According to Forbes, she has conducted over 30,000 interviews with guests involved in movies, music, TV, literature, sports, comedy, and culture. Until 2013, Forbes cohosted the show with Michael Eckford, who left the show to join CKNW.

Forbes stated on Facebook that she is developing a new show with Shaw TV, which will launch soon.

Recently, Forbes was runner-up in the Best Local TV Personality category in the Georgia Straight’s 19th annual Best of Vancouver awards. The Rush was voted by readers as the Best Local Cable Show.

Do not fear - Bride of Chucky will be back. There's always a sequel.

No big loss as there hasn't been real community TV in Vancouver for over twenty years. Shaw has around five hours a week of community TV to satisfy it's community mandate but that is it. At one time every municipality in the GVRD had it's local community television station but now Cable 4 is just a promotional venue so Shaw can peddle it's overpriced crap to the masses.

CPP - I was thinking the exact same thing. Complaint Department is decades old but very memorable. The cohosts were usually articulate, funny and relatable. Fiona and her program never appealed, despite the apparent popularity - it's no loss.

Hard to imagine people could say such cruel and harsh things about Ms. Forbes or (gasp) any other human being. I'm still smitten after meeting her in Jacqui Cohen's living room with Goldie Hawn. I can't think of one Hollywood star that radiates charisma the way Fiona does.

      @ Boris,

You mean Jacqui get-those-trees-out-of-my-way Cohen? There's a another piece of work.

I loved Fiona and tell my daughter to be as nice as her. She is a great role model for social butterflies and want to bees. I really thing Fiona she run for Mayor of Vancouver. She has the looks, the personality but I am not 100% sure about whats inside and how much air there is. Regardless, maybe UBC or SFU should give her an hononary degree for the social aspects that he brought forward. She lost weight too.. yeah, good for everyone to see healthly people.

Amen as she was horrid and did not really seem to care, the fact she lasted that long is a miracle. Speaks volumes as to the amateur nature of local TV in Vancouver. They were dumb and dumber and vague as heck.
