Satan statue with erect penis replaced by penguin with sunglasses

    1 of 1 2 of 1

Remember that Satan statue with the penis that was erected in East Vancouver a few weeks ago?

It was quickly discarded by City of Vancouver workers. Now another statue has taken its place in the Stonehenge-imitating plaza at Clark Drive and Grandview Highway.

This morning (September 30), a penguin with a bowtie and sunglasses was seen by commuters on the street and SkyTrain. Since there's nothing controversial about this penguin, I suspect the city will leave it alone.

Isn't Satan capable of assuming any number of forms?

That's an Earls penguin for sure

How much will City Hall spend to remove it, but not the graffiti?

Every 10 blocks from City Hall, every project below $20 million doubles in cost from its base level.

Figure 3 workers, 4 hours plus break time from when they go off until they are ready for their next task. Write off the rest of the day because they can't finish anything they might start, clock in a sick day or two and that's going to be about 3% of annual salary by a full time employee of average seniority. 3% of salary and benefits is about $4800.

Let's save 5 grand and call it the next Geoff Meggs Poodle at $100k less with free installation

Doh! How could I forget that all the other work to be done in the city will be waiting after the emergency response squad finishes throwing a penguin in a trash can.

Better plan for overtime to cover the naps that make a simple one square of sidewalk cement take a full week including at least 2 trucks at all times.

      Penguin here.
You got a problem with me, you can come and say it to my face.
      Yeah. I thought so.

This is why it's hard to leave Vancouver. I miss and love you, xo Rachel (PS: as an ex-Earls employee I would have to agree it's an Earls penguin, circa 1988 or 1989)

Hey, Vancouver. Get over yourselves! I'm too busy stirring up trouble in the Middle East and inside the Pentagon to be with you happy faced do-gooders!! Maybe I'll send you the Big One some time, until then.
      Ciao!

I'm surprised the penguin statue isn't looking down at a IPhone while heading out to a party in Yaletown
