The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Richmond Maritime Festival

On August 6 and 7, the Richmond Maritime Festival takes over the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site (5180 Westwater, Richmond).

The 13th annual event, which is free of charge, celebrates the area's nautical and natural heritage through family-friendly activities like arts and crafts, storytelling, wooden-boat displays, a variety of nautical demonstrations, and live entertainment.

Saturday (August 6) will see Vancouver alt-folk rockers the Matinee perform on the YVR Community Stage, with support by local multidisciplinary group the Myrtle Family.

The festival runs from 11 am to 8 pm on Saturday, August 6, and 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday, August 7.
