What on earth are the independents and splinter parties thinking of?
Unless all but 7 Council, 5 Park Board and 6 School Board on the centre/right and the COPE candidates on the left withdraw you are guaranteeing Vision Vancouver and maybe the NPA will be back in power continuing the developer driven destruction of Vancouver for 4, not just 3 more years.
Focusing on Mayor and Council the needs to be no more than 2 for mayor. I suggest Bob Kasting on the centre right of the spectrum. For Council there should be no more than 7 candidates. IMO those who have the best chance to be elected are the Greens, 3, Cedar, 2 and Vancouver 1st, 2. If people who want a mixed Council that is not controlled by one or both the developer parties they must vote for a concentrated, not bought and paid for group of candidates, as these are. And, for this to work these parties have to withdraw some of their candidates to get to total down to 7. The rest also have to withdraw. If you do not you are ensuring Vision Vancouver will put all Vancouver citizens through 4 more years of agonizing hell.
Meena Wong and the COPE candidates on the left stand the best chance of being elected from that sphere of voters. Similarly to the above, Candidates such as One City are only splitting the COPE vote and they know it. One has to question the motivation of groups such as these. Are they really doing Vision Vancouver's bidding?
So ladies and gentlemen, please seriously consider my plea, you have to decide whether you are supporting Vision Vancouver re-election or stepping aside and working together to elect 7 candidates dedicated to work for all Vancouverites, not just the special interests. If the above list is not drastically shortened you are on the side of Vision Vancouver, not the majority of Vancouver citizens.
