The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Vancouver Fringe Festival

From September 8 to 18, the Vancouver Fringe Festival takes over various Vancouver venues.

The annual celebration of theatre features more than 800 performances by over 90 artists over 11 days.

This year, it will open with a fundraising performance of Butt Kapinski: Dick on the Fringe, an immersive-theatre experience in which a private eye must solve a mystery with the audience's help.

Other highlights include the Georgia Straight Fringe-For-All preview show, new feature Generation Hot, a dramatic-works series, the Barefoot Wine & Bubbly stage, and workshops for artists.

The festival will close with the Public Market Pick of the Fringe Awards and a closing-night party.

The Public Market Pick of the Fringe (which shows this year's favourites) runs from September 21 to 25, while Pick Plus (which shows hits from past years) runs from September 22 to 25.
