Rock Hall embarrasses itself yet again with lame-ass nominees

    1 of 2 2 of 2

I finally got around to checking out the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2015 and, lemme tell ya, that institution has developed its most severe case of HUA (Head Up Ass) Syndrome yet.

Okay, firstly, let's rattle off the nominees: Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, N.W.A., Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Lou Reed, the Smiths, the Spinners, Sting, Chic, Kraftwerk, the Marvelettes, Bill Withers, War, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

      Told ya it was embarassing!

From that lame-ass batch, the only ones worthy of nomination in my books are Jett, Reed, Butterfield, and Vaughan.

      Fvck Chic.

And Green Day can take a hike, too. You mean to tell me they deserve a spot more than Deep Purple, which the Rock Hall actually nominated last year, before totally forgetting about? "Bollocks", as our old buddy Bob might say.

Another worthy nominee from last year that didn't get a shot this time was pioneering guitar hero Link Wray, the original Rumbler. What, was that some kind of cruel joke, to throw his name in the hat for 2014 and then just let the hopes of his long-suffering fans fade to dust?

And speaking of long-suffering, what about all the Rory Gallagher followers, who haven't even seen their hero's name mentioned once?

The Rock Hall's third major flub this year was the refusal to consider the late Johnny Winter. They chose Chic over Johnny Winter? Sting over Johnny Winter? The motherfvckin' Marvelettes over Johnny Winter?

I will give the Rock Hall credit for one decent decision this year, though, and that's the long-overdue nomination of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Maybe they decided there wasn't room for two Texas guitar heroes this year, so took him over Winter.

They'd better let Johnny in next year, though, or I'll really be pissed off.

Newt' nice of you to put this live version of Johhny B Good on here.Complete with Ric Derringer(remember hang on sloopy).I couldn't agree more that this lame ass Rock n' Roll HOF blows.Has KC and the Sunshine Band been elected yet? Probably over dozens of others deserving of the accolade but what can you do.The music industry has become a sham. Not unlike most who ply their trade in it on a mass scale.Give me Candy Givens.

I'm still waiting for them to induct Ray Coniff; given their track record it can't be long now!

Where's Janet Jackson? The Cure? Depeche Mode? Deep Purple?

Couldn't agree more about Chic. Nine nominations now. NINE! Give that coveted slot to one of the above mentioned continually snubbed artists.

If the musician's hall of fame in Memphis can mominate Stevie and Buddy Guy together ,why can't Cleveland with Johnny Winter? Stevie and Johnny are in the blues hall of fame together ,much more prestigious than Cleveland's pop music hall. Here's some more "artists" that are in Cleveland's hall to ponder,Run DMC,the Beastie boys and Madonna.

The Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame is a tourist attraction, not a historical barometer of musical talent.

      Dear Steve,
Time marches on and you're stuck in the past.

This entire thing is a joke, and has been for years. Where the hell is Cheap Trick? As Rick Nielsen has said, 'They'd be lucky to have us'. It's a pretty cool visit, with all the old memorabilia and whatnot, but as far as 'Rock royalty', mostly a joke and not representative of 'Rock', much less 'royalty'.

      @Paul D

I see the concept of a 'Hall of Fame' is lost on you.

      Paul D:

Your "past", as a musician, is the only thing that gets you in the so-called hall of fame/shame/lame.
Musicians should start refusing recognition by this ongoing embarrassment. Perhaps, eventually, it would be an honour to be overlooked.
      Otherwise, this will never end.
