Freddie Mercury singles box is almost as colourful as he was
Freddie Mercury was about as colourful as a character can get, so it's only fitting that this new box set of his solo work had the coloured-vinyl machines over at Universal Music working overtime, cranking out seven-inch singles in red, yellow, blue, orange, white, cyan, gold, clear, green, and neon pink.
Messenger of the Gods: The Singles features 13 discs total, covering Mercury's dance floor-influenced solo anthems of the '80s, including his collaboration with Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballé, "Barcelona", and his posthumous U.K. hit "Living On My Own".
Although I loved what Mercury did with Queen in the seventies—especially on their first few albums—I wasn't a fan of his solo stuff. If, unlike me, you thought the guy could do no wrong, have at 'er. Messenger of the Gods also comes with a booklet and download codes for MP3s, but it ain't cheap.
