The ninth annual Vancouver International Burlesque Festival takes place at the Vogue Theatre (918 Granville Street) from May 1 to 3. The three-day festival features performances, classes, and events celebrating the art of burlesque.

Performers at this year’s festival include Kitten Natividad, winner of Miss Nude Universe 1973 and 1974 and star of Russ Meyer’s 1979 film Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens. Other burlesque features include Canadian burlesque legends Judith Stein, Lady Divine, and Suzzette Monique.

Chicago’s Ray Gunn, who holds the title of “King of Burlesque” from the Burlesque Hall of Fame’s annual Tournament of Tease in Las Vegas, will also be at the festival. In addition, special guest Perle Noire, the “Feminine Phenomenon” who has performed on tour with Dita Von Teese, will also be in attendance.

Visit the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival website for details and an events schedule. Tickets to shows can be purchased online in advance.
